One of the most important approaches is ratio analysis. This involves examination and interpretation of correlation between numerous financial variables, by shareholders or creditors. Riordan uses ratio analysis to benchmark itself in the market. Some of the ratio an alysis uses in Riordan Manufacturing include: liquidity ratios, such as current ratio, and quick ratio, to measure its solvency levels. This is done by taking the current assets and current liabilities to ascertain the various ratios; it also measures its debt structure, which is measured by dividing the net debts against the net assets; Riordan expresses its gross margin as a percentage. The profit margin is net sales less the operating expenses during that period; and profitability ratios to show the profitability of the company during a particular accounting period. Some of the profitability ratios used by Riordan Manufacturing include; return on assets, debt ratio, earnings per share and dividend payout ratio. Riordan uses these tools to identify changes in the companyââ¬â¢s operations and the trends in the market against other companies. The companies systems are interconnected and dependent, and they are functional from the reception of the raw material shipment to the rele ase of the finished products. The sub-systems involved involves passing the incoming materialââ¬â¢s documents, from the deliverer to the receiving staff who compare the document against the order and in validation, the data is fed into the inventory system by the inventory clerk. In addition the information regarding the amount of raw material used and the number of assembled produced are submitted to the clerk who inputs the date into the inventory system (Docstoc, 2010). When a sell is in process, the information concerning the customer and the amount ordered are entered into the shipping and billing systems by the sales system. Accordingly, the shipping system produces a document from the inventory system based on the amount ordered. After the ordered goods have been loaded into the truck the trucks number, date and time of departure are fed into customerââ¬â¢s billing system. Later upon shipment, the copies of order are entered into the inventory system.Advertising Lo oking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! To facilitate this, the department uses two types of desktop computers, which are the ââ¬Å"Dell Optiflex computer with Windows 2K operating system and Compaq Presarioââ¬â¢s operating on Windows 98 and Microsoft Office.â⬠These systems are used by different facilities, where each facility and individual members of the sale team uses a variety of softwares and procedures to gather the customerââ¬â¢s information and to trace down sales. The whole IT system, involved in the receiving of raw materials and release of produced goods is used by all the three Riordan companies in Georgia, Michigan, and China, although they produce different commodities. However, the sub-systems involved, wh ich are; reception, inventory, manufacturing, branding and delivery, require some improvement to make the whole process successful. For instance, the reception does take a lot of time in comparison on the delivered materials and their order. A more integrated method of electronically weighing the material delivered could save the company a lot of time for other processes (Docstoc, 2010). This can be achieved by comparing the weight of delivered goods and the ordered weight. In the inventory, the weight of the delivered good will be noted and since each plant processes one product the finished manufactured good can be compared against the weight. Moreover, the sales department needs to install software that will compare the customersââ¬â¢ information and the market demand to production system records to determine the amount to be produced. This will curb the problem of dead stock, a major problem in Riordan manufacturing process. In the same case, there should be a connection betw een the inventory system and the production system. This will enable the production team to assess the quantity needed to avoid the loss incurred in holding finished products. Also, the connection needs to be extended to delivery department, on which automatic hand sensor should be used to delete the released products from the inventory system. This will save time used in feeding the information manually. Reference List Docstoc, (2010). Improving Riordanââ¬â¢s Networks. Riordan manufacturing business systems. Two Countries Possess Two Different Educational Sytems Essays
Two Countries Possess Two Different Educational Sytems Essays Two Countries Possess Two Different Educational Sytems Essay Two Countries Possess Two Different Educational Sytems Essay Is Another Countryââ¬â¢s Educational System Better? Doubtlessly, different countries may have different educational systems but who knows which of them is better. I am an international student who came from Malaysia, a country which is located in Southeast Asia then came to the United States, a country which is far apart from my home country, to pursue a higher education. Many of my friends often ask me whether Malaysia or the United States is better but I could not answer them with certainty because I think each country is inimitable. Although the duration that I have been to the states is not long, I discovered that the education systems are distinct between my home country and the United States. Thus, each country has its own peculiarity as there are certain dissimilarities in the educational system in terms of rules and grading systems that exist between two nations. First of all, the contrast of regulations in educational system is one of the factors that lead the country into the current position in the world today. Undeniable, most of the schools in Asia, such as Malaysia, have tougher rules than in the United States. For example, school uniform and restrictions on hairs are mandatory for pupils during their student career. This motivation is because the government thinks that pupils will look more organized and professional as in the appearance. In the contrary, students in the United State are much more unrestrained as they are permitted to wear any type of clothing that they enjoy wearing. Both of the guidelines in each country are correct but the one which is using in my home country will affect the cogitation of the students because of the restriction on selection that they were accustomed to. Not only that, pupils have no rights and is not allowed to converse while the lecturer is instructing because it is considered as an interruption if you intent to speak to anyone. While in the United State, students always inquire the instructor regarding to the hesitation they have in mind immediately, unlike the students in my country. They are encouraged to exchange their own opinions with teachers. In short, the rules and regulations in both countries are different, but it is not up to us to make a judgment if one nation is superior over another because they are unique in their own way. Moreover, apart from schoolââ¬â¢s ordinances, these two places use different approaches in the assessment system. Unquestionably, most of the Asia countries focus on the examination more than the studentsââ¬â¢ participation in the class. For example, students can still receive an outstanding grade even if they do not submit their homework according to the schedule that the instructor, as long as they study for the examination. As a matter of fact, this system is not equitable for those pupils that participate in the class as they only achieve the equal result with the students that do not engage in the class. Furthermore, in one essay, it was stated that teachers nowadays focus on teaching the materials that were based on the test which can help students to achieve better scores, but would cause a decreasing level of knowledge for this generationââ¬â¢s students. On the other hand, the scoring system in America is a reverse version of my home country. It is unthinkable for students here to attain an ââ¬Å"Aâ⬠even when they score wonderful marks for all of their tests because the system here concentrate more on the participation of students, but not just the scores. Unlike Malaysia, lecturers in America help pupils to obtain and absorb knowledge which can benefit themselves in the rest of their lives. Hence, these two regions possess distinct grading systems, but is the reason why they are incomparable. In conclusion, the education system that each country is having now makes them unconventional; we could not decide whether it is wrong or right. Irrefutably, without doubt, some people would think that the system in America is better because of its current status in the world today but nobody can determine it. On the opposite side, the system in my home country, which is Malaysia, is more rigorous than where I am studying now. However, I could not tell which of them is better because both of them possess its own weaknesses and strengths. Even though we do not like some of the systems in education, we should adapt and acquire knowledge in the way it is formulated as. Every nation has a different educational system, but nobody can decide which of them is better.

About Margaret Bourke-White, Photographer
About Margaret Bourke-White, Photographer Margaret Bourke-White Facts Known for:à first woman war photographer, first woman photographer allowed to accompany a combat mission; iconic images of the Depression, World War II, Buchenwald concentration camp survivors, Gandhi at his spinning wheel Dates: June 14, 1904 - August 27, 1971Occupation: photographer, photojournalistAlso known as: Margaret Bourke White, Margaret White About Margaret Bourke-White: Margaret Bourke-White was born in New York as Margaret White. à She was raised in New Jersey. Her parents were members of the Ethical Culture Society in New York, and had been married by its founding leader, Felix Adler. This religious affiliation suited the couple, with their mixed religious background and somewhat unconventional ideas, including full support for the education of women. à College and First Marriage Margaret Bourke-White began her university education at Columbia University in 1921, as a biology major, but became fascinated with photography while taking a course at Columbia from Clarence H. White. She transferred to the University of Michigan, still studying biology, after her father died, using her photography to support her education. There she met an electrical engineering student, Everett Chapman, and they were married. The next year she accompanied him to Purdue University, where she studied biology and technology. The marriage broke up after two years, and Margaret Bourke-White moved to Cleveland where her mother was living, and attended Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University) in 1925. The following year, she went to Cornell, where she graduated in 1927 with an A.B. in biology. Early Career Though majoring in biology, Margaret Bourke-White continued to pursue photography through her college years. Photographs helped to pay for her college costs and, at Cornell, a series of her photographs of the campus was published in the alumni newspaper. After college, Margaret Bourke-White moved back to Cleveland to live with her mother, and, while working at the Museum of Natural History, pursued a freelance and commercial photography career. She finalized her divorce, and changed her name. She added her mothers maiden name, Bourke, and a hyphen to her birth name, Margaret White, adopting Margaret Bourke-White as her professional name. Her photographs of mostly industrial and architectural subjects, including a series of photographs of Ohios steel mills at night, drew attention to Margaret Bourke-Whites work. In 1929, Margaret Bourke-White was hired by Henry Luce as the first photographer for his new magazine, Fortune. Margaret Bourke-White traveled to Germany in 1930 and photographed the Krupp Iron Works for Fortune. She then traveled on her own to Russia. Over five weeks, she took thousands of photos of projects and workers, documenting the Soviet Unions first Five Year Plan for industrialization. Bourke-White returned to Russia in 1931, at the invitation of the Soviet government, and took more photographs, concentrating this time on the Russian people. This resulted in her 1931 book of photographs, Eyes on Russia. She continued to publish photographs of American architecture, as well, including a famous image of the Chrysler Building in New York City. In 1934, she produced a photo essay on Dust Bowl farmers, marking a transition to more focus on human interest photographs. She published not only in Fortune, but in Vanity Fair and The New York Times Magazine. Life Photographer Henry Luce hired Margaret Bourke-White in 1936 for another new magazine, Life, which was to be photograph-rich. Margaret Bourke-White was one of four staff photographers for Life, and her photograph of Fort Deck Dam in Montana graced the first cover on November 23, 1936. That year, she was named one of Americas ten most outstanding women. à She was to remain on staff of Lifeà until 1957, then semiretired but remained with Life until 1969. Erskine Caldwell In 1937, she collaborated with the writer Erskine Caldwell on a book of photographs and essays about southern sharecroppers in the midst of the Depression, You Have Seen Their Faces. The book, though popular, drew criticism for reproducing stereotypes and for misleading captions which quoted the subjects of photos with what were actually words of Caldwell and Bourke-White, not the people depicted. Her 1937 photograph of African Americans after the Louisville flood standing in line under a billboard touting the American way and the worlds highest standard of living helped draw attention to racial and class differences. In 1939, Caldwell and Bourke-White produced another book, North of the Danube, about Czechoslovakia before the Nazi invasion. That same year, the two were married, and moved to a home in Darien, Connecticut. In 1941, they produced a third book, Say! Is This the U.S.A.. They also traveled to Russia, where they were when Hitlers army invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, violating the Hitler-Stalin Non-aggression pact. They took refuge in the American embassy. As the only Western photographer present, Bourke-White photographed the siege of Moscow, including German bombardment. Caldwell and Bourke-White divorced in 1942. Margaret Bourke-White and World War II After Russia, Bourke-White traveled to North Africa to cover the war there. Her ship to North Africa was torpedoed and sunk. She also covered the Italian campaign. Margaret Bourke-White was the first woman photographer attached to the United States military. In 1945, Margaret Bourke-White was attached to General George Pattons Third Army when it crossed the Rhine into Germany, and she was present when Pattons troops entered Buchenwald, where she took photographs documenting the horrors there. Life published many of these, bringing those horrors of the concentration camp to the attention of the American and worldwide public. After World War II After the end of World War II, Margaret Bourke-White spent 1946 through 1948 in India, covering the creation of the new states of India and Pakistan, including the fighting that accompanied this transition. Herà photograph of Gandhi at his spinning wheelà is one of the best-known images of that Indian leader. She photographed Gandhi just hours before he was assassinated. During the Korean War, in 1952, Margaret Bourke-White traveled with the South Korean Army, again photographing war forà Lifeà magazine. During the 1940s and 1950s, Margaret Bourke-White was among many who were targeted as suspected communist sympathizers by the FBI. Fighting Parkinsons It was in 1952 that Margaret Bourke-White was first diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. She continued photography until that became too difficult by the end of that decade, and then turned to writing. The last story she wrote forà Lifeà was published in 1957. In June of 1959,à Lifeà published a story on the experimental brain surgery intended to fight off the symptoms of her disease; this story was photographed by her long-time fellowà Lifeà staff photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt. She published her autobiographicalà Portrait of Myselfà in 1963. She formally and fully retired fromà Lifeà magazine in 1969 to her home in Darien, and died in a hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1971. Introduction to the Home Health Agency Role Essay
Introduction to the Home Health Agency Role - Essay Example Most skills trainings for HHAs are taught by other healthcare professionals, and they usually learned on the job. Generally, their trainings are molded around the unique needs of the patient. Depending on the level of complication of the clientââ¬â¢s illness, the HHAs trainings could be done in a few hours to a few days. For more complex cases, some employers provide training classes, which the aspiring HHA has to pass before they are given a job. There is no license for HHAs, but there are some employers who would rather hire certified HHAs. The certification process includes an examination and 75 hours of training and skills testing. Other requirements may include a background check of candidates, before enrolling them to a program, due to the high trust nature of the job. Sometimes, health screenings may be required to prevent patients from contracting diseases from their caregivers. 2.0 Purpose and Goals of Home Care Home care involves a wide scope of care for a wide variety o f patients outside the hospital setting. The services that home health care companies provide can range from nursing care, physical therapy, and even occupation therapy from qualified medical professionals to smaller services from home health aides. The care provided could be as simple as assistance in everyday activities, such as bathing and eating, to more complex services requiring more specialized professionals. Essentially, the purpose and goal of home care is to provide an adequate level of care usually achievable at the hospital, and bring it to the patientââ¬â¢s home. 3.0 Members of the Home Health Care Team (With Functions and Interaction) Physician. Physicians perform home visits to the patient at regular intervals wherein they assess the patient in an environment that he or she is more comfortable. They assess how the patient handles his or her illness at home. They also regularly check and make adjustments and interventions when necessary. There are two ways in which physicians can function in the home health care setting. First, they rely on the home health care nurse, as the leader, mediator, and coordinator of the group, leaving them to be the evaluator of the patientââ¬â¢s health, which is to be coordinated with the rest of the team by the nurse. Second, they are the one who will lead the team by taking a more active role in patient care. The mnemonic INHOMESSS enumerates the roles of the physician including immobility, nutrition, home environment, other home health care members, medications examination, safety, spiritual health, and services by home health agencies. Furthermore, at the patientââ¬â¢s home, physicians will be able to get a more in-depth assessment of aspects of the patientââ¬â¢s life that is not normally accessible from the hospital setting. Moreover, they can look for environmental factors found in the home that can affect the patientââ¬â¢s illness; they can see how the patient acts in a more comfortable setting than in a hospital, and they can assess the patientââ¬â¢s compliance with the therapeutic regimen including diet, exercise, and medications. From these observations, they can identify faults in the patientââ¬â¢s activities and make interventions to change them for the patientââ¬â¢s health. They can also assess the tasks of the health care team and change them to suit better with the therapeutic regimen, especially if they are the one functioning as a team leader and a coordinator. Research Evdidence for Nursing Practice 2 Essay
Research Evdidence for Nursing Practice 2 - Essay Example 12 Midwifery Care Measures in the Second Stage of Labour and Reduction of Genital Tract Trauma at Birth: A Randomized Trial 13 Abstract 13 Effects of pushing techniques in birth on mother and fetus: a randomized study. 14 Abstract 14 Active pushing versus passive fetal descent in the second stage of labour: a randomized controlled trial. 15 Source 15 Abstract 15 A randomized trial of coached versus uncoached maternal pushing during the second stage of labour. 17 Abstract 17 Source 17 Abstract 17 Pushing methods used by UK midwives during the second stage of labour: current practice and rationale. 1.0 Background The second stage of labour is the period between the moment when the cervix attains complete dilatation and when the baby is born (Caldeyro-Barcia et al. 1981). This stage is portrayed by frequent and regular contractions and it is the period when the mother experiences rectal pressure, vaginal pressure, and an irresistible need to push down. For a long time in the history, th e management of the second stage of labour has consisted of a set of behaviors that start when the midwives become aware that the woman has attained full dilatation and hence prepared to push. The midwives proceed by instructing the mother to continue pushing while holding their breath, with successful contractions (Hanson 2006; Hansen, Clark and Foster, 2002). This kind of practice has been done by many midwives for the purpose of shortening the occurrence of the second stage of labour and speeding up fetal descent, though the rationale and safety of the practice has not been substantiated (Yildirim, Beji, 2008). Nevertheless, there is mounting evidence showing that unplanned pushing is a better way of managing the second stage of labour than directed planning, which is typically done by Valsalva maneuver. When all is said and done, many midwives in the United Kingdom (U.K.) and other parts of the world have continuously adopted the directed mode of attending to mothers when giving birth, during the second period of labour. A recent study by Osborne (2010) found that midwives felt the need of supporting women without epidural anesthesia to start the efforts of bearing-down on when the women felt the need to do so. The majority of the participants, however, revealed that they did not provide direction when helping the mothers, which means many of them often, supported spontaneous bearing-down. Their study further revealed that most of the midwives started providing directive support when the fetal head appeared and when the final drawing out of the perineum was occurring. The other factor that influenced directive support was the tendency by the mothers to ask for more direction or when they appeared to be exhausted (Osborne 2010) An unplanned push is accompanied by a release of numerous breaths and air within the intervals of bearing-down attempts (Roberts et al. 1987; Bloom 2006). Albers et al. (2005) scrutinised pushing techniques used by Certified Nurse-Mi dwives (CNMs) and found that the largest proportion of midwives preferred non-Valsalva methods. For quite a long time, the practice of subjecting women to long pushes in the course of the second-stage of labour has been disapproved by critics. 2.0 Introduction The practice of midwifery is premised on the view that labour and birth are ordinary physiological phenomenon that takes place in the life of a woman. Aims And Objectives Used In A Study
Aims And Objectives Used In A Study The main purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of corporate social responsibility on the organizational performance case study of TESCO. Research and objectives are the back bone of the research. They give the direction to conduct the research affectively without this research seems to be useless. There are followings research objectives and aims To understand the impact of corporate social responsibility on organizational performance. To understand what are the derivers behind the implementation of Corporate social responsibilities How CSR play important role for the success of the company Find out the ways how company can perform CSR effectively and profitably What are the benefits which company getting by performing CSR 1.3 RESEARCH QUESTION As it been discussed above this study seeks to investigate into the impacts of corporate social responsibility on organizational performance as a case study of Tesco. To addressed the problems in research work some research question was really vital To what extended does the corporate social responsibility impact the overall performance of the Tesco? BACKGROUND INFORMATION In 1960 the concept of corporate social responsibility was introduced. It is understandable from the word of corporate social responsibility that how organizations engage in environmental and social activities in their business and their operations and how they cooperate with their stack holders including employees, suppliers, and customers. Initially the main concerns of corporate social responsibility were employment equal opportunities, health and safety issues. Nowadays, corporate social responsibility is not just focusing the health and safety issues but it is also focusing on Environmental and Ethical matters. Now corporate social responsibility is the competitive tool for the organizations and it is the source to get the competitive advantages and corporate resources. The basic definition of corporate social responsibility was given by European Commission. It is the process of implementation of social and environmental activities in daily business operations. Many experienced scholars and experts are trying hard to find the standard definition of corporate social responsibility but unfortunately they are not successful in this regard. Corporate social responsibility related activities and issues are controlled by various economic bodies. World Business Council for Sustainable Development explains corporate social responsibility; it is the responsibilities of the organizations to help the economic development by working together with workforce, national communities to improve the life style and standards. It is the duties of the corporations to perform activities which helpful for the organization as well for the society and community. It the obligation of corporations to do justice with their stakeholders as well their shareholders and also to take steps for the improvement of the society as well as the community. There are numbers of authors and scholars who have given their own ideas and views about the corporate social responsibility. They also explained what activities are good and what are bad. Different organizations commit that they are performing a lot corporate social responsibilities activities for the beneficial of the society and environment. If we study about the corporate social responsibility issues we will see there are number of companies who have committed that they are very responsible for the CSR but in real they were not doing this. Take the example of BP in 2007 BP promote their self that, they are very environment friendly and they promote their self as a green company. By violating the health and safety laws in USA BP image was very much disturbed. NIKE is one of the famous and well known brand in the world. Due to these issues their brand name and brand personality was really disturbed and it created a bad image on their brand. (Weatherly and Otter, 2008) Porter and Kramer (2006) explained that corporate social responsibility is a source of getting competitive advantages .Corporate social responsibility plays a very vital role for marketing and it is very useful tool for attracting the customers. The Pros and Cons of a Breast Reduction Savanna Elevate Hudson Instructor: Pamela Congealed ENG 121 English Composition I July 29, 2014 The decision to have a breast reduction surgery came after years of continuous back pain throughout my life. My experience has been a real Journey in researching the right doctor and asking the right questions for this type of surgery. My Journey began in 2012 after many attempts to lose weight. I began doing several exercises with hope that my breast would firm up and I would see a change see a change with my weight. After seeing no changes I decided to take another route. I tried many different diets, personal trainers, meal plans and body wrap suits. With that I tried I still say no results. Ultimately I decided that I should start looking into breast reduction surgery to see if it was a good fit for me. In 2014 after during all my research I find a surgeon and had my consultation. I was made aware of financial obligation which was ten-thousand dol lars after discussing it with my significant other I then decided to have the surgery.I was made aware of the complications that old come from having this particular surgery. The complications could range from bleeding during surgery, possible of a stroke, heart attack, are even blood clotting. After finding the right doctor and discussing all the pros and cons then, I decided that it would be well worth the risk to have the surgery. I express to the surgery I wanted my current double H -bra size reduce c-cup. A week before surgery I completed my pre-pop and was cleared for surgery due to all labs being normal. The surgery was approximately three hours longs.I was immediately after surgery I was admitted into the hospital due to my inability to fully wake after the surgery. The next morning following surgery I waken with severe pain, swelling, and soreness. I had bandage wrapped around my entire breast area with drainage tubes on the left and right side. I was hospitalized for two d ays and unable to move due excruciating pain. After two days of being hospitalized I was being discharge and I received my aftercare instructions. My instructions were a bit rigorous because I had to remember several things. These things included getting use to wearing a bra purport, remembering to take my medications, applying medicated cream to the incision creams, and continuing to drain my breast pumps and keep them clean after showering. My significant other helps me with all my personal needs. He helped me bathes, put on my clothes and shoes, and even feed me. I needed help because I was not able to fend for myself. After a week I had my first doctor visit sense surgery, and my bandages were removed as well as the tubs. I didn't know whether to be happy or cry when I looked at my scars in the mirror.I observed the incision from the right underarm to my left underarm. I was also shown where both nipples were removed and replaced by being sewn back on. The doctor also told me he removed five pound of breast tissue from each breast. My doctor assured me that the swelling, drainage and pain would subside overtime. He also went over a few restriction that I had to follow while recover at home. I couldn't lift my arms over my head, no bending are stretching, no exercising, and no other strenuous activities. I would have three- four doctors visit before I would be able to return to work.I was out from work for eight week from the surgery. He also advised that the full recovery time could take up to one- two years. Since the reduction I went from a double H cup too C-cup and had to buy new clothes. I am now able to shop at my favorite which sis Victoria Secret. I really enjoy wearing tank tops, sun dresses, and sleeves shirts. Crop tops and sports bras. In going through with the surgery, it has been the greatest thing I could've done. I am happier than Vive been in years, and my health overall is excellent. Life as I know it now is awesome. It is a great feeling t o be able to run and play with the kids and not become short of breath, be able to function daily without any back pain, and most importantly wear clothing that looks great on me. I am no longer on a diet every other week. I have changed the way I eat, and Vive incorporated exercising, and increased my water intake for myself and my family as well. I learned how to buy the right foods, and how to eat them properly to ensure that it would help me burn calories. I would give word of advice to anyone that is thinking about having this surgery.I would advise them to do extensive research on the doctors, always ask lots of questions and remember that no question is a dumb question. They're many research tools available such as you-tube, which how the actual footage of the procedure and Google is helpful information on specialist and procedure. I would also make sure that you truly know what the complications are, and how it will change your life before you decide to do it. I suggest that you have a good support system to get you through your recovery. I truly thank my significant other for all his purport and encouragement from the beginning to the end as well other family members. It's also important to do your research on the surgery because it range anywhere from five thousand are more. I also make sure you're able to be out from work least eight weeks for this type for surgery. Overall, I would not recommend this major surgery to anyone if there are other options available. After listening to several women that had this procedure done, and comparing and contrasting I am proud to say that I could not be happier by having had this surgery. This has truly been a life changing event in my life.
